WEST GIPPSLAND BOWLS DIVISION
LADIES ROUND ROBIN FRIDAY 7 FEBRUARY

The annual ladies Round Robin between West and South Gippsland was played at Traralgon on Friday 7 February with the winner receiving the shield from Strzelecki Region.

Three games were played and in the first game South Gippsland adjusted to the indoor surface and jumped to an early lead before West Gippsland rallied to draw close but South held on to win 31 – 26 with Rosa James Leongatha beating Pat Trewin Traralgon 13 – 6, Robyn Dennis San Remo beating Pat Fraser-Aurisch 8 – 7 and Jenny Miller Leongatha losing 10 – 13 to Sheryl Atkinson Drouin.

West Gippsland selectors swapped Kay Garry Traralgon and Kathy Smiles Traralgon RSL in the second game and West levelled the series with a 30 – 20 result with Pat Trewin losing to Mary McBain Wonthaggi 7 – 8, Pat Fraser-Aurisch defeating Jenny Miller 10 – 8 and Sheryl Atkinson having a big 13 – 4 victory over Rosa James.

With a win each the third game was critical and Sheryl Atkinson had her third win over Mary McBain 12 – 9, Pat Fraser-Aurisch defeated Rosa James Leongatha 16 – 4 and Pat Trewin lost to Jenny Miller 4 – 11 with West the overall winner 32 – 24.

Sixteen ladies were named to play a follow up match on Friday 21 February at Traralgon.
